Placed here, far from home
And through the glass of a golden room
I pray mercy on a sleeping city
Most nights I can't find the words
Like drawing blood from a stone
But I'll toil to make them known
Oftentimes thoughts evaporate
As I'm staring at a blank screen
And I try in vain to tell my faith
To write the new world hymnal
A new anthem for the age
Redemption for our people
We know nothing of ourselves
We can't see past the city lights
'til those brief nights of clear
It's not my monument
In the moments that built it
It's You who speaks on that empty page
To write the new world hymnal
A new anthem for the age
Redemption for Your people
To build the new world Cathedral
The global wonder of our time
The meaning of our lives

Separation Anxiety
06:40
|
|
||
The chains that wrap around your heart
Protect you from the ones you love
Hiding from the light
She feels the presence of intruders
Knocking on her window sill
And trying to crawl in
Dwells inside the comfort
Of an idea growing deep within
Thinking every word escaping mouths
Set out to warp reality
Separation Anxiety
You're searching for the signs
To disassociate from choices
Trusting in the kind of God
That's easy to believe
Your life descends to chaos
As you lock the doors around you
Our desperate cries to save your soul
Drowned out by deafening black
Through passing eyes, gentle and true
Found in stone
See out from hers, they're thieves and ghosts
Through my own eyes
A fading love
A fallen star
Fallen star
Won't be long before you burn out completely
Open up to me, don't let me go
Let me know the thoughts you have that kept you away
Time for the truth to be revealed
Feel your fears fade to grey
Too young to tell
How I'd feel
What your failures would reveal
Beyond my flesh
This pain and this guilt in me still
Itch deep as bones all the moans
Forever etched in my skull
The chains that wrap around your heart
Protect you from the ones you love
If I could reach you
I'd take you back to the shores of sanity
But you're kept safe in your cocoon of vanity
If I could speak without setting you aflame
Show you the reason for me
If I could wave and you would see me
But you just see monsters
Through passing eyes, gentle and true
Found in stone
See out from hers, monsters and ghosts
Through my own eyes
The cold truth
I broke our love
Broke our love

Dendroid Hands
04:17
|
|
||
Keeping calm amidst
Familiar strangers
Knowing I don't belong
Everything I touch is
Destined to splinter
Better not stay too long
Outstretching my arms
But my chances are fading
Can't uphold life's demands
Love without pain is
Always unlikely
Joined to my dendroid hands
I am more than they see in me
But I need to be set free
If they’d only lend ears to me
Maybe I will awake from inside
Beginning to feel my
Thoughts are unwelcome
Sorry I cause distress
Their seasons of life
Advancing without me
Tie and a proper white dress
This room’s a deafening
Societal racket
I’ll find my own way out
My sense of humour is
largely redundant
My words are soaked in doubt
I am more than they’ll ever see
But they’re growing too fast for me
If they’d only slow down for me
Maybe I won’t be cast aside
Will I be cast aside?
Cast to the fire?
Sometimes I lift and
Throw myself out there
"Circle 'round one and all"
I fall through the sky when I quickly discover
They're already bought and sold
I know if I stop and show
How I'm feeling
I'll only take 3 steps back
Nobody wants a man
Who can't handle
A life not all dressed in black
I thought I was more than they see
But their candles illuminate me
And there's a hole where my faith should be

Who Steers the Earth?
02:48
|
|
||
Shifting through a desperate land,
Tired voices, outstretched hands,
Are we just here fighting over crumbs?
You might be holding your head high,
Blind to hate with the sun in your eyes,
Will you be saved when the time comes?
Who steers the Earth?
When mountains cry for a second birth
Who steers the Earth?
When we've exhausted everything of worth
The dust of death is drawing near
Not by the silver in our hair
But by the poison planted in the ground
Who steers the Earth?
When mountains cry for a second birth
Who steers the Earth?
When we've exhausted everything of worth

CULTRA
07:53
|
|
||
Lighting up the coastline,
Exposing the truth to our sheltered lives
The meek are churned like butter
Then fed the smear on our knives
How can I sit here and wonder
About love and money and things?
How can I starve while there are mouths to feed?
Just sit back and listen
To that cacophony
That's our new identity
No more exploration
Nothing left to see
Cultural singularity
Complex identity complex
His story history
Inside yearning for a simpler time
Living in an ultra culture
Four pillars crumbling down
Markets disappearing
Governments function in fear
As kings drop their crown
Fearful heart and a hateful eye
Lock out friends like you and I
Look down to our own soil
And see we’re standing on graves
Then there’s talk of mass extinction
Can nobody be saved at all?
Just sit back and listen
To that cacophony
That's our new identity
No more love and mercy
Nothing left for free
Our Earth fallen to its knees
Just sit back and listen
To that cacophony
That's our new identity
No more condemnation
Scarred earth or crimson seas
We’ll live through all eternity

Day of Drear
06:54
|
|
||
Every once in a while
I awake from a dream
With a space where my heart had been
As I climb out I find
Someone I once knew
Standing in my view
And for days ahead
A dark cloud hangs overhead
Every time my mind's eye replays
Rosemary's darkest path
I feel his wrath
If you take my child through the valley of darkness,
I will grow the roots around your eyes,
I will make you one with the maggots
Rosemary
I'm sorry
I was so immature
Forgive me
Each time I would see her
I just loved her
Then I'd use her
I would
Love her, then I'd use her
I would love her, then I'd use her
I would roll her dice
Then one day
She took the darkest path
Fade away,
Day of drear,
Bruise on my bones
When it aches,
Can’t forget
Out there somewhere

On concrete towers, sky high
I saw black raven's fly
Weaving a different freedom
Before land I'll never touch
The ivory city, armed with tall walls
Now sounds the soldiers calls
Escaped son brought home
Now Truth drips blood to stone
I need to see his eyes
Find any trace of fire
What caused us to think this way?
What inspired him to break away?
I need to find a way out of here
To the world where the raven's fly
From ear to ear their knives draw a grin
I heard the empire roar
But whispering a different sound,
Now lifeless, I'll never know
I need to breach these walls
Awaken from the darkened day
Who taught those birds to sing?
What beyond must their eyes have seen?

Soldiers orbit my view
Multiply in red and blue
Feet skip to where the Raven's flew
Make in me something new
To escape, a deathly dance
Driven by a desperate trance
Reach out for a second chance
Break through to another land
I’m another mark in the apothecary’s books
Just another stain on the soldier’s knife
I’m a whisper in the city square
But I’m something else out here
And the left behind won't seem to care
There's an iron face where tears should shed
In the city's passionless play, they're
Amused by a pleasant shade of grey
Now that I am marked for execution
Grasp at straws for asylum
Now the claws have scraped me from existence
Grant me someone who knows the way

Vivid sunrise has its beam
To Cleanse the dark earth.
And I so many miles away
From the ivory city’s fray
Arise..
The Flowers dance with breezy swing
As the moon's ghost speaks through wind
And the sounds of waves, a new voice in my ears
Drown out the city's fears
No oppressive demands
Only rolling land
Thou, divinity,
And my credulity
But even in my freedom
I remember when age were young
Prior to such enlightenment
And pastures I now call home
When I roamed in the shadow of the towering walls
In slavery, lust and greed my chains were bound
Blind as the sleeping
I'd indulge in the soldiers rule
To destroy the unbelievers
And announce the industrial world
Till my rage wore out and left my heart forlorn
And the walls I’d come to love engulfed the sun
So thank thee Lord
I fled, time still to hear the waves
The rising sun, and rolling land
You walk beside me, You control my fate and thou hath lead
Me here to the world where the raven’s fly

Awake, arise; now see the rising sun
Cleansing, leading, teaching
To sing the call of the bird
I could stay here forever
See out my final days
In the shade of the coolabah
But what of the darkened skies
Deep inside the city walls
Where the whispers go unheard?
Laze in his grace and hide,
Or break down these walls and fight
Deny the world their comforts
Equality from a ravens eye
Conscience disrupts the heart
Conviction leads me back
If I die may my soul return
And my blood inspire another

Ascending of steps, a view of the crowd.
A glow in his eyes, then clothed in a shroud.
Yelling of curses, bellowing detest,
Death looming, but knows he is blessed.
Polishing of blade, twinkles in its eye
Tool of trial raised to the sky.
Final words, seek the spirit within!
From neck to neck, the blade draws a grin.
We look for truth through scientific progress
To find a solace long obscured by sin
We seek to build the walls of revelation
Depraved we're screaming from within
Our way of life is built on self elation
We construct monuments on breaking ground
But when we're scattered from our tower of Babel
What will be our final sound?
Our bodies braced by artificial comforts
The walls protect us from the ebb & flow
Can we withstand the agony of release
To be returned to nature's glow?
It takes a martyr to inspire the question
Is there a truth behind the undertow?
And when you find the world where the raven's fly from
Will you hide away or lay down your life?
